He is not here, but is risen. Remember how he spoke unto you, when he was in Galilee - Luke 24:6
Amidst the Santas and the reindeer, Christmas time is still filled with religious symbols. The manger scene remains an integral part of the decor that people put up in their homes and churches. It seems, however, that the same cannot be said for Easter. The holiest day of the year is the day we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. It is the core of our faith. Inspired during OCIA at St. Philip the Apostle Church, the Easter Scene project came to be. This is an empty tomb that is meant to portray what rock-hewn grave may have looked like over 2,000 years ago. This empty tomb is made by members of the Knights of Columbus Council. It demonstrates faith because we show our belief in Christ rising from the dead. It reminds us to hope in the resurrection at the end of the world. It fosters love because the council will donate all proceeds to a cause that benefits the community and because the cross is the “greatest act of charity the world has ever known” and with no cross, there is no empty tomb.
Easter Scenes can be purchased for $35. See us in the lobby after Masses or fill out the form below.
